Something I want to do in 2025 is to spend more time with my friends. Now that we are all married with kids, it’s hard to find time to hang out. So, we have considered planning a trip together. Planning a guys’ trip can be a little overwhelming. You want to choose somewhere that everyone will enjoy and can comfortably afford. At the same time, you want to create unforgettable memories. So, where do you go? From rugged outdoor locations to the dazzling lights of Vegas, there are some destinations that are just perfect for an adventure with your crew. Here’s a look at 10 places I think would make awesome destinations for your next guys’ trip.
1. Moab, Utah: Off-Roading Paradise
Moab, Utah is a picturesque destination for anyone seeking adventure. You can visit Arches National Park or Canyonlands National Park. There are also amazing spots for hikes with the guys underneath sandstone arches. Other fun activities include mountain biking, kayaking, paddle boarding, rafting, rock climbing, paragliding, and horseback riding. If you’re looking for something a little more low-key you can also check out the Moab Museum or one of the many breweries. It’s a great place for a group of guys who enjoy being outdoors.
2. Banff, Canada: A Wilderness Wonderland
Banff is usually a place you’d visit in the winter. It is a great place to visit around Christmas because it has a Hallmark vibe to it. However, it’s gorgeous throughout the rest of the year too. Depending on the time of year you go, you can experience snow-capped peaks or breathtaking trails. The town boasts some of the best ski resorts in North America. There are also some relaxing activities you can plan like visiting the hot springs or hitting up the bars after a day full of adventure with friends.
3. Reykjavik, Iceland: Land of Fire and Ice
Iceland might not be the first place you think of when you are considering a guys’ trip, but the capital is actually a great place to set up camp while you explore the area. You can rent a 4×4 and get on the road. There are plenty of waterfalls, glaciers, and volcanic craters to check out. Thrill-seekers can dive between tectonic plates at the Silfra Fissure or hike on a glacier with crampons. At night, chase the Northern Lights or relax in the Blue Lagoon with your crew. Reykjavik’s nightlife is equally exciting, offering everything from trendy bars to live music venues.
4. Patagonia, Argentina: Ultimate Hiking Destination
Don’t worry there will be other stateside destinations on the list, but going abroad can offer up some unforgettable moments on your guys’ trip. Patagonia has some of the most stunning landscapes on Earth. I first saw some of the scenes on an episode of Top Gear. It is absolutely perfect for a rugged adventure with friends. The Torres del Paine National Park is a hiker’s dream, with trails leading to glaciers, turquoise lakes, and iconic granite peaks. For those into fishing, Patagonia is home to world-class fly-fishing spots. You’ll also have plenty of opportunities to camp under the stars or stay in remote lodges for a true wilderness experience. Not to mention, you’ll have the option to plan horseback riding and ice trekking trips.
5. Queenstown, New Zealand: Adventure Capital of the World
Queenstown lives up to its reputation as the ultimate destination for thrill-seekers. Bungy jumping was invented here, and there’s no shortage of heart-pounding activities like skydiving, jet boating, and zip-lining. The town sits on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, surrounded by mountains perfect for hiking and mountain biking. In winter, Queenstown transforms into a top ski destination with world-class resorts. After a day of adventure, the lively bars and restaurants provide the perfect setting for unwinding with your crew.
6. Las Vegas, Nevada: High Stakes and High Adventures
We’ve all seen The Hangover. While I wouldn’t like to plan that kind of trip necessarily, I’d love to get to Las Vegas and create some hilarious and memorable moments with my crew. Beyond the casinos, bars, and strip clubs, there are plenty of opportunities to explore nature as well. You can head to Red Rock Canyon for hiking, rock climbing, and stunning desert views. If you’re into motorsports, rent exotic cars and take them for a spin on a racetrack. The Grand Canyon is just a helicopter ride away, offering a breathtaking day trip. Of course, the nightlife in Vegas is second to none, with world-class shows, nightclubs, and dining experiences.
7. Costa Rica: Eco-Adventures Galore
My wife lived in Costa Rica for a while in college and has always spoken about the experience fondly. Looking into it, Costa Rica is an eco-adventurer’s paradise. You can go zip-lining, whitewater rafting, and surfing. There are places where you can hike through lush rainforests, where you can spot exotic wildlife and waterfalls. The beaches on both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts are perfect for sunbathing or catching waves. If you’re into volcanos, hike to the Arenal Volcano and relax in its nearby hot springs. Costa Rica’s “pura vida” lifestyle guarantees a laid-back yet exhilarating experience for your group.
8. Cape Town, South Africa: Thrills and Scenic Views
Cape Town offers a blend of adrenaline-packed activities and stunning scenery. Hike or take a cable car up Table Mountain for panoramic views of the city and coastline. For an aquatic adventure, try shark cage diving in the waters around Gansbaai. The Cape Winelands provide a relaxing escape, perfect for wine tastings and gourmet meals. Surfing enthusiasts will love the waves at Muizenberg Beach, while wildlife lovers can visit nearby game reserves.
9. Tokyo, Japan: Urban Adventure Awaits
Tokyo is a playground for urban explorers, offering a mix of futuristic attractions and traditional culture. Visit the iconic Shibuya Crossing, towering skyscrapers, and unique neighborhoods like Akihabara. For adventurous dining, try authentic sushi, ramen, or even bizarre delicacies like fugu (pufferfish). The city also offers day trips to Mount Fuji for hiking and stunning views. After sunset, explore Tokyo’s nightlife, from high-energy clubs to hidden izakayas.
10. Whistler, Canada: Winter Wonderland and Summer Escape
Whistler is a top destination for outdoor enthusiasts, offering world-class skiing and snowboarding in winter. Summer visitors can enjoy mountain biking, hiking, and zip-lining through the breathtaking alpine scenery. The village is packed with lively pubs, restaurants, and après-ski spots perfect for unwinding with your crew. Whistler also offers unique activities like bobsledding and axe throwing for something different.
