It’s the most wonderful time of the year! For many people, that unfortunately means overspending. Americans are expecting to spend $1,000 or more celebrating Christmas this year. So, being able to find some deals and freebies for Christmas is key to staying under budget during the holiday season. Without further ado, here are some of the best things you can score this December.

Deals and Freebies During December

Throughout the month of December, many retailers and food places will be giving away free (or seriously cheap) items or hosting free events. Here is a look at some of the best deals and freebies for Christmas 2024.

Krispy Kreme

On Friday, December 13, and Saturday, December 14, Krispy Kreme will be giving away a free dozen of original glazed donuts with the purchase of any dozen. This includes their festive Grinch donuts. You can make a day of it by including some of the other free activities on this list.

J.C. Penney

J.C. Penney Kids Zone will be hosting a free event on Saturday, December 14. Children will be able to build a Lego snowman and receive a free collector’s pin, ID badge, and lanyard. While your kids are having fun, parents can get a free coupon for an extra 10% off their purchase at J.C. Penney.

Lowe’s

Lowe’s is also holding a fun event for kids on December 14. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., they are invited to construct a spinning snowflake ornament. The event is completely free, but you will need to register for the event before attending.

AppleTV+

Once you get home from your fun day out, you can check out A Charlie Brown Christmas on AppleTV+, free of charge. Non-subscribers will be able to stream the holiday classic for free on December 14 and December 15.

Costco Gift Card

Groupon and Stack Social are both offering a free $45 digital Costco gift card with the purchase of a membership. This offer is only available for new members or former members who haven’t had an active membership for at least 18 months. You can claim this offer up until December 22.

Bass Pro Shops

Photos with Santa are a must, but they can be incredibly expensive. Bass Pro Shops is offering photos from the Red Man for free. Customers can get a 4×6 print and shareable video at no cost. You just have to book a reservation in advance. The retailer is also offering a bass-shaped cookie cutter giveaway for kids until December 24, while supplies last.

Jack in the Box

Jack in the Box has a “24 Days of Jackmas” event that started on December 1. The promotion runs through December 24 and allows you to get a different free item each day of the week after spending at least $1. You will need to download the Jack in the Box app to make your $1 purchase. Then you can get the following treats:

  • Sundays: Free onion rings
  • Mondays: Jumbo Jack
  • Tuesdays: Two tacos
  • Wednesdays: Regular Noggy or Nice Shake
  • Thursdays: Jr. Chicken Sandwiches
  • Fridays: Fries
  • Saturdays: Four-piece chicken nuggets

Additionally, the fast food restaurant will be offering $1 fountain drinks every day of “Jackmas.” So, you will really only have to buy a drink to get any of these freebies.

Dunkin’

Dunkin’ always has festive treats for customers to enjoy. In December, the donut shop brought back Free Donut Wednesdays. Through December 25, people who are signed up for the Dunkin’ Rewards program will get a free classic donut after you buy any drink.

Kinder Chocolate

Through December 31, Kinder is giving away packs of two individually wrapped Kinder Bueno bars (while supplies last). You go to Kinder’s website and select a participating retailer in your area. Kinder will then email you a coupon and you can go to the store and grab your freebie.

Popeye’s

You’ll need to download the Popeye’s app for this freebie, but it’s totally worth it. Make your first purchase on the app by December 31 (it must be at least $10). Then you can choose one of the following menu items for free:

  • Two-piece Signature Chicken
  • Three-piece Tenders
  • Six-piece Wings (bone-in or boneless)
  • Classic, Spicy, Golden BBQ or Ghost Pepper Chicken Sandwich

Video Games

Gamers on PlayStation are able to get a few freebies for Christmas this year too. If you are a Plus member, you can play a few games for free until January 6. The games include “It Takes Two,” “Aliens: Dark Descent,” and “Temtem.”

Other Deals & Freebies for the Holidays

According to a subreddit called r/beermoneyuk, there are plenty of ways to score freebies via some of your favorite apps. Reddit user smarttips shared that some companies do advent calendar offers via their apps for the holidays. Here are some things you might want to check out.

  • Lidl Plus App (free bakery and discounts per day)
  • McDonalds App (festive wins and prizes)
  • Ikea Family Card (digital advent calendar)
  • TopCashback (find the magpie)
  • American Express (Shop Small discount)

While it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season, not everything has to cost money. Take advantage of some of these deals and freebies for Christmas. Your wallet will thank you!
