Is Costco Closed on Columbus Day 2025?

Columbus Day (or Indigenous Peoples’ Day in some places) falls on Monday, October 13, 2025. If you have the day off and want to hit your local warehouse store, you may be wondering if Costco will be open. Below is what you need to know.

Is Costco Closed on Columbus Day?

No — Costco is expected to be open on Columbus Day 2025. According to Costco’s published holiday policy, its U.S. warehouses close on only seven major holidays each year, and Columbus Day is not among them.

Specifically, Costco lists those full closures as:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Easter Sunday
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

Because Columbus Day isn’t listed, Costco’s warehouses typically operate under their standard hours.

Operating Hours on Columbus Day

While Costco doesn’t usually publish special holiday hours for Columbus Day, their “holiday schedule” tables show that on Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples’ Day, warehouses are “Open (hours may vary).”

So, you should assume your Costco will operate with its normal business hours, unless your specific warehouse posts adjusted hours.

Keep in mind that some departments (like the pharmacy, optical, tire center, and gas station) may run on reduced hours or have different schedules than the main warehouse. Always check your local store’s listing for the most accurate departmental hours.

Costco Business Centers

For business customers, Costco Business Centers operate on a separate schedule. I did not find definitive public information confirming Columbus Day status for Business Centers in the U.S. for 2025, so I recommend checking with your local Business Center if you plan to visit one.

Does Costco Run a Columbus Day Sale?

Costco does not typically promote a specific “Columbus Day sale.” However, their regular rotating deals, seasonal discounts, and member-only offers will still be live. If you’re shopping on October 13, you can still take advantage of whatever promotions are active that week.

Usual Costco Hours (For Reference)

Here are the typical hours many Costco warehouses follow (though local warehouses may vary):

  • Weekdays (Mon–Fri): ~10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Saturday: ~9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Sunday: ~10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Again, your local warehouse may adjust these, especially the departmental services.

Call Ahead to Verify Hours, When in Doubt

If you’re wondering, “Is Costco closed on Columbus Day 2025?”, the answer is no — Costco warehouses are expected to be open, as Columbus Day is not one of Costco’s recognized store-closure days.

That said, to be absolutely sure, it’s wise to:

  • Check the Costco website or app for your local warehouse’s hours
  • Call your nearby Costco warehouse
  • Check departmental hours (pharmacy, gas, tire, etc.)
