Memorial Day is meant to be a day of remembrance and a time for family and friends. However, celebrations have changed over the years to include parades, barbecues, and a general kick-off to summer. Therefore, many retailers also use it as a time to offer great sales. So if you are looking to take advantage of the savings this weekend, here are the best deals and freebies for Memorial Day 2024.

As of today, these are some of the best deals and freebies for Memorial Day 2024. But keep in mind that some sales haven’t been announced yet. So, there will be more savings as the weekend approaches.

Freebies for Memorial Day

Museum Tickets

    • Service members can get free tickets through Blue Star Museums’ partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families. They will receive free admission to these museums for active duty personnel and their families throughout the summer. The offer runs from Armed Forces Day on May 118 through Labor Day on September 2.

Zoo Admission Tickets

    • Most zoos across the country offer free admission to military members and their families all year. Sometimes, they extend the deal for additional tickets for family members on military holidays. Check with your local zoo to see what deals and freebies are available for Memorial Day 2024.

Admission to Theme Parks

    • Busch Gardens Theme Park
      • The parks are offering free admission and special ticket pricing through the Waves of Honor Program in both Virginia and Florida to active-duty personnel, veterans, and their families. And, it includes access to Busch Gardens, SeaWorld, Aquatica, Discovery Cove, and Sesame Palace.
    • California’s Great America
      • Active duty military, reserves, and veterans get a free ticket valid from May 24-27. There are also online discounts for up to 6 additional tickets.
    • Cedar Point
      • You can get free admission for military members, National Guard, reserves, and veterans between May 24-27. Plus, you can save an additional $40 when you purchase up to 6 more tickets online.
    • Hershey Park
      • They are having a buy 1 day ticket, get 1 free for military members until May 31. 
    • Kings Dominion
      • Active members, veterans, National Guard, and reserves will receive a free ticket from May 24-27. And, you can save an additional $35 on tickets for 6 guests.
    • LEGOLAND
      • Military members can get deeply discounted tickets, which can include a 2nd day FREE. 
    • Magic Springs Theme Park and Water Park
      • The park has announced HERO Appreciation Days from May 25 – June 9 in Host Springs, Arkansas. This means free admission with proof of ID to military personnel, police and corrections officers, healthcare employees, and other heroes. And, there are discounted tickets for family members.
    • Silverwood Theme Parks
      • It’s American Heroes’ Weekend from May 25-27 in Athol, Idaho. So, that means free admission for military personnel, veterans, police officers, medics, and firefighters. Plus, you can get discounted tickets for spouses and children when you show your ID.

Admission to Colonial Williamsburg

    • Colonial Williamsburg also offers free admission once a year during Memorial Day or Veterans Day weekend for service members and up to 3 dependents. However, there are also special discounts throughout the year with proof of ID.

Discounts for Military Personnel and Veterans

Many places already offer military discounts to service personnel. But on Memorial Day, they want to show appreciation to those in uniform with even deeper discounts.

    • 10% discount in stores and online through July 6 for military members and first responders
  • Adidas 
    • 20% off at factory outlets and 30% off online and in-store purchases for military personnel, vets, first responders, medical professionals, and teachers with ID
