21 Creative Ways to Use Dryer Sheets to Save Money

Dryer sheets have been used for softening and removing static from laundry for years.

But there are many other ways you can use them that might surprise you.

If you are looking for ways to save money, these affordable sheets are the ticket.

From freshening clothing in your closet to cleaning soap scum in the shower, these little sheets have a plethora of uses.

So don’t toss out that dryer sheet after one load of laundry when you can put it to good use with these creative tips.

1. Clean Electronics

Dryer sheets are a cheap way to clean dust from your computer, TV, or gaming console.

Use a dry dryer sheet to pick up dust, clean your electronics quickly and easily, and stop spending money on name-brand cleaning wipes.

2. Scrub Pots and Pans

You can use a dryer sheet to scrub away stuck-on food on a pot or pan.

Leave a dryer sheet and water in the pan overnight to let the silicone in the dryer sheet soften the stuck-on mess.

Clean it with the dryer sheet in the morning, and then wash it as usual.

3. Fan Freshener

To keep your home smelling fresh, try this fun dryer sheet hack as a cheap and easy solution.

Attach a dryer sheet to the back of your fan and turn it on for a pleasant, affordable air freshener. You won’t have to spend money on pricey plug-in fresheners, incense sticks, or candles.

4. Dusting Hard-to-Reach Areas

So many areas in our house, like baseboards, window blinds, and ceiling fans, collect dust and are hard to clean.

You can easily clean these areas with a dryer sheet because they are flexible and fit into tiny nooks and crannies.

If your kids leave crayon marks on the walls of your house, don’t stress.

Just rub the dryer sheets on the crayon marks and watch them disappear without damaging the paint on your walls.

6. Calm Your Hair

Keep a baggie of dryer sheets in your car or purse and pull one out to leave your hair static-free.

Have you ever taken your luggage out to pack only to find it smells a little musty before taking a trip?

You can use a dryer sheet to wipe down the inside and outside of your luggage to freshen it and leave a dryer sheet in it after your trip to give it a fresh scent when you are ready to use it again.

You no longer need to be embarrassed by deodorant marks on your dark clothes.

Grab a dryer sheet, rub it over the mark, and watch the deodorant stains disappear.

If your pet’s hair stands on end during a storm, you can help calm them by rubbing a dryer sheet on their fur.

The sheet’s anti-static properties can help reduce static in their fur, calming them when they feel anxious or jittery during a storm.

13. Scissor Sharpener

Another creative use for dryer sheets is to sharpen your dull scissors.

Wiping the scissor blades with a dryer sheet will remove residue buildup and sharpen the blades, making your scissors as good as new.

If your car smells of stale food or other unpleasant odors, you can freshen it up with dryer sheets.

Just place a few dryer sheets under your car seats or in the air vent to give your car a fresh scent.

You can easily stop that annoying static cling on your clothes by rubbing a dryer sheet on the inside of them and yourself before putting it on.

You can place a dryer sheet between layers of trash for extra help to keep things smelling fresh.

Wiping a powdery mess such as flour or cocoa powder with a paper towel is a recipe for disaster, but try using a dryer sheet for better results.

The anti-static cling of the sheet will grab the powder and make cleanup much easier.

If your car floors get sandy when you go to the beach, try using a dryer sheet to help prevent and remove it.

Wipe yourself and your kids with a dryer sheet to remove sand before getting into your car, and rub the sheet over the floor mats and carpets to pick up the sand after you get home.

Instead of buying sachets for your dresser drawers or closet, make your own using dryer sheets.

Just cut dryer sheets into small squares, wrap them in fabric, and tie them with a ribbon to keep your clothes smelling fresh.
