Summer’s winding down, but Labor Day—observed this year on Monday, September 1, 2025—gives one last chance to soak up the sun with a grill-out or trip to the lake. Even hosts who prep ahead often forget one item and need that emergency store run. Good news: Walmart’s got your back.

Is Walmart Open on Labor Day 2025?

Yes, Walmart will be open on Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2025. The vast majority of locations will operate during regular business hours, typically starting around 6 a.m. and closing at 11 p.m. local time.

Department & Service Hours May Vary

Different departments like the pharmacy, auto care, deli, or bakery may open later or close earlier than the main store hours—so it’s always a smart move to call ahead or check the store’s website. For example, Walmart pharmacies are sometimes open, but schedule changes on holidays happen.

Services like curbside pickup also vary by location; order early if you need same-day service, as late orders might be prepped the following day.

What’s the Buzz on Deals?

Expect Labor Day promotions at Walmart—this year, they’ve already dropped big discounts on school supplies, electronics, appliances, furniture, and more.

Walmart Holiday Schedule

Here’s a look at Walmart’s holiday schedule for 2025…

  • New Year’s Day—Wednesday, January 1—Open
  • MLK Jr. Day—Monday, January 20—Open
  • Presidents’ Day—Monday, February 17—Open
  • Easter Sunday—Sunday, April 20—Open
  • Easter Monday—Monday, April 21—Open
  • Memorial Day—Monday, May 26—Open

  • Independence Day—Friday, July 4—Open
  • Labor Day—Monday, September 1—Open
  • Columbus Day—Monday, October 13—Open
  • Halloween—Friday, October 31—Open
  • Thanksgiving Day—Thursday, November 27—Closed
  • Black Friday—Friday, November 28—Open early
  • Christmas Eve—Wednesday, December 24—Open but closes early
  • Christmas Day—Thursday, December 25—Closed

Walmart remains open for standard hours (typically 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.), including Memorial Day and Easter Sunday. Only Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day see full closures company-wide. Additionally, Black Friday opens early (5 a.m.), while Christmas Eve closes early—typically around 6 p.m.

Whether you’re heading to a BBQ or hosting the gathering, Walmart is a reliable go-to on Labor Day 2025. Their wide selection, extended hours, and in-store or pickup options make last-minute runs easier—just double-check department-specific hours for a smoother outing.
